No matter your taste in music, SXSW has a plethora of artists to whet your appetite. Originally formed as a music festival, SXSW now incorporates tech, sports, comedy, movies and games. But, it is the music that drives the masses on an annual pilgrimage to Austin, Texas. We take a look at some of the top musicians and comedians scheduled to appear this year.
Event Highights
Fans of Electric Music: Tove Lo will perform at Palladia’s Epic Awesome Showcase on March 18 at Cedar Door, and Island Life Showcase presented by Island Records on March 19 at The Belmont.
SXSW Comedy: The comedy festival this year promises thousands of laughs delivered by some well-known names including Jay Pharoah and Horatio Sanz of SNL fame, our favorite female comic Amy Schumer, and Judd Apatow. Check out www.sxsw.com/comedy/schedule for the entire schedule.
Jimmy Kimmel Live!: If you can’t make it to Austin, Jimmy Kimmel is going to teleport you there through the magic of television as he broadcasts 5 shows from Austin, March 16th to March 20th. We suggest setting your DVR’s now.
Fans of Hip Hop / R & B: A couple of the bigger names performing are Big K.R.I.T. and E-40.
Fans of Alternative: On Friday March 20th, check out the SXSW Interview with 1980’s Aussie band The Church inside the Austin Convention Center. Later that night see them perform live at Buffalo Billiards.
